Design & Character

Wakefield Collection

The Wakefield Collection reads transitional and quietly industrial, where clean lines carry the look without ornament, and this hutch top brings that character up off the desk. At sixty-eight inches wide and a full twenty-four inches tall, it is the taller of the two Wakefield hutches, adding generous shelving above the work surface for books, binders, and the reference materials a busy office accumulates. The extra height makes real use of vertical space without widening the desk's footprint below. The back is not finished, since it sits against a wall behind the desk, so the hutch is made to complete a Wakefield L-desk rather than stand alone.

Craftsmanship

Every Wakefield piece is benchmade by Amish craftsmen in Fredericksburg, Ohio, where A&L Furniture has built solid hardwood office furniture since 1996. The work happens on-site from rough lumber to final coat. The taller hutch is built to seat squarely on the L-desk below and to carry a full load of books across its shelving without sagging. A three-step finishing process, applied by hand, brings out the grain and seals every surface against years of daily use. Graphite hardware lends the clean, industrial edge that defines the line, set against the warmth of real wood. It holds up to real work, day after day.

Heirloom Quality

Built to last, this hutch top is solid hardwood on every surface that shows, with no veneer or particleboard hiding under the finish. Shelving built from real wood holds a deep row of books for years without bowing, the failure that ruins lesser shelving. Because the hutch is made to order in the same species as the desk, the two read as one coordinated piece. Choose from a deep menu of species so the set matches the room it lands in. Order it your way and Millwest delivers your finished hutch straight to your door with nationwide delivery across the continental US, putting heirloom solid wood within reach.
